As many of you know, a close friend of mine, Penney Knightly, is a published author of hundreds of free verse compositions. Well, truth be told, I have always had a hard time understanding how free verse can actually be considered poetry. You know, no rhyme, no meter, the usual objections.

But a few weeks ago, I had an epiphany! That’s right, folks, a genuine, for-real, epiphany. It came to me after reading a description of a product on Amazon, Milk Melons. The description made no sense at all, as it seemed to have been translated from some foreign language; I guessed some variety of Asian, based on the syntax. I looked at it, and laughed, then Ping! The lightbulb went on! Epiphany. It was actually Free Verse, in disguise. Suddenly, free verse made complete sense.
